Judging by the sheer amount of Knocked Up content on this blog, you’re probably well aware of our affinity for Judd Apatow’s latest comedy (see here, here, and here for a chronicle of our obsession). With the goal of providing you a somewhat more objective perspective, we surveyed the audience at Cinema Village this Saturday, following the 4 p.m. showing of the film.
Bryn, 23
Fashion publicist
“I thought it was really good. I love Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared. Will it be a big hit? I mean, it was sold out on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. I’d usually never go to the movies on a day like today, but I really wanted to see it, so yeah.â€
Jesse, 23
Musician
“I thought it was excellent — all the way through good. I don’t know if I had a favorite scene or favorite character. I liked that Judd Apatow used all of his kind of classic Freaks and Geeks people. It was the whole crew.â€
Colleen, 24
Graphic designer
“The scene where you could see the baby coming out made me not want to be a mom anymore.â€
Aaron, 25
Musician
“It made you just want to be friends with all of them. It seemed like they were having such a good time.â€
Nancy, 64
Actress
“It was fan-fucking-tastic! Can I say that? I loved Seth Rogen. The detail in the characters and the choices they made was so interesting to watch. The story actually held — when does that ever happen?â€
Charles, 36
Attorney
“It was brilliant. Intelligent comedy. You go in thinking you’re going to see The 40-Year-Old Virgin, but it’s actually a brilliant drama encased in a comic suit. I think it will win a lot. I really do. The writing is so intelligent that it’s definitely going to be in contention [for an Oscar].â€
Adam, 22
Office assistant
“Rogen’s transformation into an adult happened so quickly. I guess they had to skip a lot of time between 12 and 24 weeks, but it didn’t seem realistic. That, and everyone being more attractive than normal people. Well, except for Rogen and his friends. I thought it was great, though. I’m going to have to see it again because I couldn’t catch half the dialogue because everyone was laughing so much!â€
