Robert Longo’s Untitled (Men in the Cities) (1980). Image courtesy of the artist and Metro Pictures, New York.

In honor of Robert Longo’s upcoming show of new work (opening next week at Metro Pictures), we decided to go a bit vintage. The new series features impeccably drafted charcoal sleeping children, but Longo is best known for works like this 1980 lithograph, Untitled (Men in the Cities) (which is part of Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art’s recently opened “Sympathy for the Devil: Art and Rock and Roll Since 1967â€). And though our buddy here looks like he’s rocking out Footloose style, Longo actually captured these jilted, erratic poses by pelting his subjects with tennis balls. —Rachel Wolff
