Star of Greatest-Ever Movie to Make New Movie
Cera Makes a Playlist: Michael Cera, star of all-time greatest film Superbad, will co-star with Kat Dennings for Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, based on a novel by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, about two teenagers who fall in love while searching through New York City for their favorite band’s unannounced show. Now we just need to go back in time and get late-eighties Cameron Crowe to make this the best romcom ever. [Variety]
Gyllenhaal and Liman to the Moon!: Jake Gyllenhaal and director Doug Liman team up on an action film about the first privately financed trip to the moon. Pic is currently identified as Untitled Moon Project, a title they should keep because it’s totally punk rock. [Variety]
Ozzy to Perform at Ozzfest: Ozzy Osbourne has announced that he will, in fact, headline the 2008 Ozzfest, denying rumors that he would have to forgo this year’s festival and assuring fans that he and his wife, Sharon, will continue to deliver the appalling in-fighting and shenanigans that festival attendees have come to expect. Woo’s Killer Gets Korean-American Remake: Korean American director John H. Lee will direct a remake of John Woo’s seminal action film The Killer, set this time in Los Angeles’ Koreatown, Chinatown, and South Central and starring a yet-to-be-determined Korean lead. Though Lee plans many changes for his version, he assures Woo purists that lots and lots of people will still be shot by guns. [HR]
Rhames Has Got The Goods: Ving Rhames joins Jeremy Piven in the Paramount Vantage comedy The Goods: The Don Ready Story, about a used-car liquidator who must save a struggling dealership over the Fourth of July. Though we’re looking forward to seeing these two together, this does seem a bit like something from the Will Ferrell plot generator. [Backstage]
Santa vs. Zombies! Hollywood Gang, the production company behind 300, announces plans to adapt the graphic novel The Last Christmas, in which Santa Claus comes out of retirement to save Christmas from zombies and demons. This will be the best Yuletide-themed film ever. [Variety]
