Needless to Say, Vulture Is Excited for Will Ferrell’s Broadway Show

If you liked August: Osage County but thought it could’ve benefited from more farting, you’re in luck. Michael Riedel reports today that Will Ferrell is developing his own one-man Broadway show to debut next fall. Purportedly inspired by Billy Crystal’s 700 Sundays, Ferrell’s show will be a mix of autobiography and variety show, likely including his well-known impressions of Robert Goulet and James Lipton, along with much gratuitous onstage nudity. Obviously we are thrilled, as we’d always wondered how “The Landlord†would play in front of a live Broadway audience. We don’t imagine it’ll win a Pulitzer (although it might!), but this is certainly better news than another lame Mel Brooks adaptation or Disney musical.
