‘American Idol’: Everybody Cries

On last night’s American Idol, the still-standing contestants from Tuesday’s episode were whittled down to a final 24. Not live, though; the judges had made all decisions before the show even started. So, as we predicted yesterday, it was pretty much an hour’s worth of people weeping, whether they’d made it or not. In fact, when some hopefuls returned from the judges’ room not in tears, Ryan Seacrest demanded they cry. Also, there wasn’t really much in the way of suspense, since a correct list of finalists leaked on the Internet weeks ago. Still, we watched.
