Peter Bart the First and Possibly Last Person to Say Something Nice About Tom Cruise’s ‘Valkyrie’
Last night, writing on his official blog, Variety editor-in-chief Peter Bart (who must’ve been invited to Tom Cruise’s housewarming barbecue on Saturday) gave a status update on Cruise’s upcoming Nazi movie, Valkyrie. Apparently shooting on the film’s three remaining scenes will resume in North Africa in the coming weeks, just in time for its release next February (when it will kick off 2010’s early Oscar season!). Bart claims, “[S]everal people I trust have seen Valkyrie and testify that it’s a superb thriller. ‘Bryan Singer is back in form,’ says one source†(who may or may not be Bryan Singer). As Defamer points out, Bart’s already been taken to task by 160 of his own commenters, most of whom apparently like Tom Cruise better when he’s playing non-Fascists with two eyes, like in Cocktail.
