Not long ago, we (and lots of others) predicted that once the election was over — after Tina Fey and Will Ferrell stopped showing up, and following Amy Poehler’s departure to have a kid — SNL would be a sad, unfunny, irrelevant mess. Happily, though, we were completely wrong (as usual!). Skit for skit, Saturday’s episode might’ve just been the funniest of the season so far. In an apparent reaction to the passage of Prop 8, most of the night’s sketches made punch lines out of intolerance of homosexuality — Andy Samberg french-kissed Fred Armisen, Bobby Moynihan did a “special comment†on Prop 8 as Snagglepuss on “Weekend Update,†and, best of all, Samberg and Paul Rudd (who was predictably awesome as the host) painted each other naked.
