Zach Galifianakis to Play Mentally Unstable Person

Z-Gal Still Rolling: Zach Galifianakis is in talks to join It’s Kind of a Funny Story, writer-directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden’s (Half Nelson) adaptation of Ned Vizzini’s young-adult novel. The plot revolves around a depressed boy sent to a mental institution, where he ends up in the adult ward; Galifianakis would play one of the crazies showing the kid the way of the world. Emma Roberts is in this too, as the love interest, but until her movies start making $100 million in their first weekends, we’ll hold off on giving her top Industry-item billing. [HR]

Full House: Jessica Biel and District 9’s Sharlto Copley are in talks to join the A-Team remake. Biel will play the ex-lover of Bradley Cooper’s character, “Faceman,†who is in hot pursuit of the team; Copley will play helicopter pilot Captain “Howling Mad†Murdock. Also onboard are Liam Neeson as team leader John “Hannibal†Smith and Quinton “Rampage†Jackson as B.A. Baracus. It’s surely been said before, but is there a problem with just having the wonderfully ageless Mr. T play Baracus again? [Variety]

Weekend at Contra’s: Vampire Weekend has announced the details of its sophomore album: It’s called Contra, it’ll be out January 12 on XL Records, and its cover is a photo of a blonde girl in a yellow polo. Song titles include “Horchata,†“California English,†and “Diplomat’s Son.†No word on what kind of music-community-polarizing sweaters they’ll be wearing this time. [Billboard]

Dead Again: Night of the Living Dead will be remade in 3-D CGI and without George Romero, but it still sounds kind of awesome: The director, first-timer Zebediah de Soto, is a partner in the digital-effects company that created a system called the Beast, which in theory “allows filmmakers the ability to direct CG performances the same way they would direct real, live actors†and “lets actors interact with CG elements as if they were tangible.†We don’t really know how that would work, but it sure sounds like the future. Scammed: Arianna Huffington is teaming with How I Met Your Mother executive-producer Greg Malins on a politician comedy for ABC. It will feature three freshman members of Congress — one an idealist, one a media manipulator, and one a political veteran — who live together in D.C. [Variety]
