Beastie Boy Adam Yauch Introduces ‘The Circle of Trust’ DVD Subscription Service

Either you’re in, or you’re out.

Adam Yauch’s Oscilloscope Laboratories, one of the most consistently high-quality indie film distribution companies out there (Dear Zachary, The Messenger, Wendy and Lucy), announced that they’re starting a subscription service: for $150, members will get their next 10 DVDs a week ahead of the release date (shipping included), and half off any DVD they want from the company’s back catalog. We can think of at least five movie nerd pals for whom this would make the best holiday gift imaginable, not only for the deal itself but because it supports a really cool company. And who doesn’t want to be part of a Beastie Boy’s “Circle of Trust Adam Yauch’s official statement is appropriately humorous:

“There’s a real void in the marketplace since Columbia Record club is no longer active, so we’re hoping to hire a staff of tens of thousands to call our valuable membership over and over again and harass them until they cry.â€

We’re signing up, but, um, this time not multiply and under the names “Kelly Taylor,†“Brenda Walsh†and “Andrea Zuckerman.†Though it must be noted that Columbia Record Club never caught us for that.
