Jeff Zucker bolstered Jon Stewart’s assessment that he is the Dick Cheney of television on Charlie Rose last night, displaying an optimism that recalled a Bush administration press conference on Iraq. Zucker was unreasonably sunny about NBC’s future throughout the interview, but earned sympathy points when he pointed out that without the deal that led to the current disastrous situation, Conan would have left the network in 2004. Another sympathy point generator: he said he’s now receiving death threats over the scheduling issues. Check out our clips below to see Rose pressure Zucker into admitting that the new late night lineup was a mistake.
