Nikki Finke reports that shirt-resistant Twilight werewolf Taylor Lautner will become Hollywood’s highest-paid teenager when he gets $7.5 million — that’s nearly $1 million per ab — to star in Northern Lights, a “Tom Cruise vehicle†to be directed by John Moore (Max Payne, 2006’s The Omen), which will begin shooting on April 1. In the movie, according to Finke, Lautner will play “a gifted young aerobatics pilot who faces off with his controlling, billionaire father and falls in love with a gifted, female pilot.†So it would basically be Top Gun, except Maverick will have a rich, grouchy dad, presumably played by Tom Cruise. When did Cruise start taking grouchy-dad roles? And why is he working with the guy who did Max Payne? Anyway, in your FACE, other Taylor.
Update: See update here. A spokesperson for Lights’ production company says Tom Cruise will not star as Taylor Lautner’s curmudgeonly dad, and Nikki Finke has corrected her post to reflect that. Our earlier point about Taylor Swift being crazy for dumping Lautner, though, is still valid, obviously.
