Jack Bauer to Kill Terrorists on the Big Screen

2?: Fox’s TV and film studios are in the early stages of developing a 24 movie, with Flightplan scribe Billy Ray writing the script, which would send Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) to Europe. Production will begin after 24’s final season, which may or may not be its current eighth one (Fox execs are waiting to see ratings on tonight’s episode before making a decision). So either way, we suppose this means Jack Bauer will survive the show’s series finale. (Spoiler alert.) [Variety]

Outbreak: Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Jude Law, and Kate Winslet have signed on to star in Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion, a thriller following the spread of a deadly virus through multiple plotlines. Sort of like Traffic with less heroin and more sneezing. [Variety]

In the Money: Katherine Heigl will star in One For the Money, based on the Janet Evanovich books about an out-of-work lingerie buyer who turns to bounty-hunting to pay her bills. Reese Witherspoon was previously attached to the film, but then someone told her what it was about. [Variety]

Robbins the Cradle: Tim Robbins, 51, has joined the cast of The Green Lantern as Senator Hammond, the father of villain Dr. Hector Hammond, played by Peter Sarsgaard, 38. If the actors are playing their own ages, it would mean Senator Hammond had Hector when he was 13, making his election to the Senate and ability to pay for his son’s medical school tuition all the more impressive. Andersen Bogdanovich’d: Peter Bogdanovich will write and direct a movie adaptation of Kurt Andersen’s 1999 debut novel Turn of the Century, centering on a Manhattan power couple in the wacky early 2000s. [HR]

Kelly Finds Love: Friday Night Lights’ Minka Kelly will star in CBS’s comedy pilot True Love, about four friends living in New York and looking for love. Kelly will play Kate, a “a pretty, clean-scrubbed Midwestern who is a sweet but strong-willed romantic.†We’re intrigued! [HR]

Slytherin Makes Good: Tom Felton, the guy who plays Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, will play an “expert in the supernatural†in The Apparition, a purportedly fact-based horror movie about a couple (the previously cast Ashley Green and Sebastian Stan) battling a demonic presence unleashed by accident during a college experiment. We wish we’d majored in demon-unleashing. [Variety]
