A company called Oblong Industries has re-created the crazy touch-activated computer interface Tom Cruise used to solve pre-crime in Minority Report, and previewed it this weekend at a tech conference in California. The Times makes it sound pretty great: “In one part of the demonstration, [Oblong co-founder John Underkoffler] reached into a series of movies, plucked out a single character from each and placed them onto a ‘table’ together where they continued to move.†Underkoffler predicts that “in five years’ time, when you buy a computer, you’ll get this,†proving conclusively that Tom Cruise is prophetic.
