Well, maybe not for him. The Pasadena Star News is reporting that after a one-on-one meeting, James Cameron, a longtime Mars obsessive, has successfully lobbied NASA into tricking out the latest Mars rover, Curiosity, with a 3-D camera that can film ten frames per second. A non–3-D camera, for the rover’s mast, was ready to go, and it’s unclear whether a 3-D camera will be ready in time for the 2011 launch. Cameron claims just to be interested in NASA getting awesome footage of Mars for the good of humanity, but he probably thinks the James Cameron documentary about Mars would benefit mankind.
