Industry Roundup: Farrell, Waltz, Jovovich, Bloom

Big Night: After appearing in a string of indies, Colin Farrell has signed on to two upcoming studio films. He’ll play a “charismatic neighbor/vampire†in Fright Night, the remake of the 1985 thriller starring Anton Yelchin and Toni Collette. And then he’ll play a leading role in Seth Gordon’s comedy Horrible Bosses, starring Paul Rudd. Deadline says he chose these two parts over roles in Katherine Heigl’s One for the Money and Reese Witherspoon’s This Means War. Apparently this is one gentleman guy who doesn’t prefer blondes. Three’s Crowd: Paul W.S. Anderson has begun casting for his upcoming 3D version of The Three Musketeers. Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief) is in negotiations to play D’Artagnan, and Ray Stevenson (The Book of Eli), Luke Evans (Clash of the Titans) and Matthew Mcfayden (Robin Hood) have been cast as Porthos, Athos and Aramis, the three musketeers. Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz will play villain Cardinal Richelieu, and Milla Jovovich has been cast as Milady de Winter, a “17th century Bond girl.†Lastly, Orlando Bloom has been offered the part of the Duke of Buckingham. Phew. Your move, Doug Liman. [Heat Vision/HR]

Xtina Hits The Road: Christina Aguilera will kick off a 20-date North American tour on July 15, supported by opening act Leona Lewis. Aguilera’s Bionic will be released June 8. If her video and latest song are any indication of what’s in store for the tour, tweens are likely to feel more uncomfortable than usual if they have to attend this with their parents. [Billboard]

By A Margin: Kevin Spacey and Zachary Quinto have signed on to star in Margin Call, a corporate thriller written by J.C. Chandor, who will also direct. The film follows eight people who work at a prominent investment bank during a stressful 24 hours at the onset of a financial crisis. Timely! [Deadline]

Making Music: Jessica Biel and Luke Evans (Clash of the Titans) are in final negotiations to star in the period romance Vivaldi, to be directed by Patricia Riggen (Under the Same Moon). The film will focus on a “forbidden romance†between Antonio Vivaldi - the composer, priest and violinist - and his protege, singer Anna Tessieri Giro. Their relationship is what led Vivaldi to write “The Four Seasons.†Ironically, Biel has seemingly had the opposite effect on her real-life boyfriend, as Justin Timberlake hasn’t released a song since they began dating. More Cheaters: Channing Tatum is joining the cast of the untitled “cheaters†comedy directed by Ron Howard, which is already starring Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Jennifer Connelly and Winona Ryder. The story centers on a man (Vaughn) who finds out the wife (Ryder) of his best friend (James) is cheating on him, and can’t decide whether he should tell the guy. Tatum would play Ryder’s “tattooed and pierced†lover. From James, a true Step Up indeed. [HR]

Aziz It Is: Mandate Pictures has picked up an untitled comedy feature based on an idea from Aziz Ansari (Parks and Recreation) and 30 Rock writer Matt Hubbard. Ansari will star in the project opposite Danny McBride (Eastbound and Down). Harris Wittels, a writer on Parks, will write the script. The plot is “being kept under wraps,†but the promise of these three comedies intersecting makes us very optimistic. [HR]

She’s Kinda Busy: Lady Gaga hasn’t even begun the nearly sold-old North American leg of her 2010 Monster Ball tour, yet she’s already adding on dates for next year. “Arty Spice†has added a series of arena dates in the beginning of 2011, with Semi Precious Weapons as the opener. Just don’t say anything to her about needing a break. [Billboard]
