The CW Picks Up Cheerleaders, Spys, and Former Foster Kids for Next Season

The CW has picked up two new series for fall. The first, Nikita, is the latest spinoff of the Luc Besson spy movie of the same name, which has already spawned Bridget Fonda’s Point of No Return and the cable series La Femme Nikita. This version will star Maggie Q as a “spy and assassin†who goes off the reservation. The second, Hellcats, follows tween faves Aly Michalka and Ashley Tisdale into the world of competitive collegiate cheerleading. What has Sue Sylvester started?

The CW has also opted to renew both the deserving Life Unexpected and the profoundly undeserving, inexplicably long-lasting One Tree Hill, while 86-ing the new Melrose Place. Eventually, even Amanda Woodward comes to the limits of her powers.
