Private First Class Bradley E. Manning, the soldier who was arrested in May for downloading classified information off military computers in Iraq, was using Lady Gaga for help. Manning was copying information onto CDs, and according to the Times, smuggled out at least one data-filled CD by disguising it as a Lady Gaga record. Furthermore:
“He was able to avoid detection not because he kept a poker face, they said, but apparently because he hummed and lip-synched to Lady Gaga songs to make it appear that he was using the classified computer’s CD player to listen to music.â€
This proves not only Gaga’s continuing popularity within the military, but that there is no present-day institution, be it the New York Times or the Armed Forces, that is above making a “poker face†pun.
