We know you’re thinking it, so let’s just get right to it: Sadly, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, the upcoming film co-written and produced (but not directed — that’d be the job of newcomer Troy Nixey) by Guillermo del Toro, is not a remake of beloved nineties teen horror program Are You Afraid of the Dark? (One day!) That said, Don’t Be — which stars Bailee Madison as a little girl who goes to live with her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes) in a creepy dilapidated mansion and then accidentally unleashes some evil from the basement — looks worthwhile all on its own. The new trailer is just a teaser, and for the most part makes a good amount of use of the word “dark†being in this movie’s title, but there should be enough ominous music and shrieking demon creatures to tide you over for now. Also: If Katie Holmes somehow turns out to be a bad guy, that would be awesome.
