Brendan Fraser to Make Long-Awaited Broadway Debut

Good news for fans of legit theater: Furry Vengeance and G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra star Brendan Fraser is making his Broadway debut this fall, reports the Post’s Michael Riedel. He’ll appear in the Barrymore Theatre’s production of Elling, a drama adapted from the hit 2001 Norwegian movie about a pair of mental-facility inmates who are freed and permitted to live on their own. Fraser will play Kjell, a “big, shaggy lump of a man who, at 40, is desperate to lose his virginity,†opposite Jennifer Coolidge as his girlfriend and Denis O’Hare in the title role. Elling earned solid reviews during its recent run in London, and the horny, fish-out-of-water role is totally in Fraser’s sweet spot (see Blast From the Past, George of the Jungle, The Scout, and Encino Man). He’s practically a quarter of the way to an EGOT already.
