After the news first broke last Thursday that he was not eligible to run for president in Haiti owing to residency requirements, Wyclef has respectfully tweeted his disagreement and his plan to appeal. But now, things are getting ugly. In a new audio message (spoken in his Jackie Chan–esque Creole) distributed to the media, Clef says: “Even before our work began friends in Haiti and abroad had warned me that much trickery would be used to block me. The result: CEP has proved it true. They violated the constitution to benefit their families and their friends who continue to live off the people’s money. Are you going to continue to support people who do not respect the fundamental law of the country?†Looks like we may get a longer run out of our Wyclef for President tag. [NYDN]
