Adrien Brody Tries to Strangle Italian Horror Film in Womb

Regretting that Italian job?

No, it’s not because he wants to deny Americans the chance to see him in another mediocre scarefest. He just wants to get paid for his role in Dario Argento’s Giallo, which is scheduled to be released tomorrow on DVD. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brody claimed that he discovered a week into production that “the film was underfunded and that producers had failed to pay $640,000 into an escrow account.†He threatened to leave, until he was assured that funding was on the way and he signed a new deal where he would defer his payday “in exchange for having the ‘absolute right to withhold consent to the use of his likeness in the Picture’ until he was paid in full.â€

He filed the suit last Thursday to seek a permanent injunction against the release of the film because he never got paid and the producers ignored him when he tried to exercise his rights. He’s also asking for “the $640,000 he’s owed, plus $2 million more for breach of contract, breach of fair dealing, fraud, and misappropriation of his publicity rights.â€
