Last night David Letterman preemptively apologized to Rachael Ray for frightening her during a yet-to-be-aired episode of The Late Show. Letterman apparently went on a crazy rant about world hunger and 24-hour food networks in front of the culinary superstar and promptly received an e-mail from Ray’s PR folks wondering if Dave was mad at her for something. Smells like another one of those famous Letterman feuds might be cooking here. Next up on The Late Late Show, Craig Ferguson and Alfred Molina share their dislike of the red carpet and their love of porn, and Tom Selleck prophesizes an inevitable and triumphant return of the Magnum P.I.–style short shorts, on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Wrapping things up on The Tonight Show, Law & Order: L.A.’s Terrence Howard describes the last audition he ever had to go on before becoming a big star who doesn’t need to do those kinds of things anymore.
