30 Rock Might Get a Ten O’Clock Spot

When The Apprentice ends its latest run, NBC might bump 30 Rock to a risky 10 p.m. slot, followed by Outsourced at — gasp — 10:30, says a source. In the old 30 Rock spot would be the new sitcom Perfect Couples. With Community, The Office, and Parks and Recreation beforehand, NBC would create a three-hour Thursday-night comedy block. Of course, the buzzy move would raise the question Conan brought to public attention earlier this year: Does a TV show’s time slot still matter? Even Conan, last January, admitted: “Some people will make the argument that with DVRs and the Internet a time slot doesn’t matter. But with the Tonight Show, I believe nothing could matter more,†conceding that, while for late-night talk shows a time slot is still significant, that might not be the case for the rest of television anymore.
