NBC has announced it’s midseason lineup, and they went all crazy on Thursday nights. First: Parks and Recreation is returning on January 20th at 9:30, at long last. Great news! Second: NBC has already picked up 30 Rock for another season. More great news! Third: NBC has extended its Thursday night comedy block to a three-hour marathon. News!
It’s certainly an interesting experiment, stretching this block out from 8-11pm. I’m not sure how many people have the TV stamina to watch six back-to-back sitcoms, but with DVR and Hulu around, it’s not that big an issue. In any case, here’s what your NBC Thursday night lineup will look like starting on January 20th:
8-8:30 p.m. – Community8:30-9 p.m. – Perfect Couples9-9:30 p.m. – The Office9:30-10 p.m. – Parks and Recreation10-10:30 p.m. – 30 Rock10:30-11 p.m. – Outsourced
It certainly seems like the best solution for Parks and Rec fans, who worried that it was going to get stranded on another night away from its friends with some untested new show. But the gang will all be back together, albeit with new shows Perfect Couples and Outsourced.
So, how many of you are actually going to power through this three hour monster block of comedy? Will you still be able to experience joy and laughter after that much? Also, will people who watch comedy TV for a living be able to stay sane with everything good being loaded up on one goddamned night? I guess we’ll find out!
