Turns out, Letterman beating Leno wasn’t the only upset in late-night ratings: Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show became the first show other than the Late Show or the Tonight Snow to win a month in the all-important 18 to 49 demo since at least 2000. In October, The Daily Show had the highest average audience in the demo of any late-night show, averaging 1.3 million viewers to Letterman and Leno’s 1.2 million. Stewart did have a particularly eventful past month, what with the election, his rally for sanity, and, of course, Obama.
