James Franco to Play a Sexually Assaulting Murderer Now

Another day, another James Franco project in the works. You might think our favorite renaissance man already has his plate full: There’s the Hart Crane biopic, there’s Maladies, and of course the Oscars. He’s also planning to direct Faulkner, make a movie with his brother, and make a musical with Yalies. Actually, he’s got so many projects in the works that we’re losing track, and we’re only the ones writing about it. However, Franco wouldn’t be the multitasking heartthrob he is if he didn’t add more to the roster. So, Franco will play satanic serial killer Richard Ramirez and direct the film adaptation of Philip Carlo’s The Night Stalker. In 1985, Ramirez went on a rampage of sexual assault and murder. He was later found guilty of thirteen counts of murder, five attempted murders, eleven sexual assaults, and fourteen burglaries. Night Stalker will show how Ramirez, currently on death row in California, became a killer. Franco will start shooting this summer when he’s on a break from Yale. Like most Franco projects, it sounds promising. [
