After multiple injuries, bad reviews, and canceled preview performances, Julie Taymor’s Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark has delayed its opening one more time. The show, which was most recently supposed to open on February 7 — after four previous delays — is now set to officially debut on March 15. Producer Michael Cohl justified the move, saying, “We simply need more time to fully execute the creative team’s vision before freezing the show. I picked a date in March that allows me to ensure that this will be the final postponement.†The problem-plagued show has been previewing to sold-out audiences, and producers hope the extra time will help them iron out some of the show’s particulars, like, say, how to end the production. But still, we wonder: Did no one warn them about the Ides of March? [ArtsBeat/NYT]
