Your Oscar emcees James Franco and Anne Hathaway just gave a joint interview to The Hollywood Reporter, and it would seem to solidify their awards-night dynamic: While the totally prepared Hathaway rattles off Oscar history like the overachieving type-A dynamo she is, a comically out-of-it Franco has to be reminded when the Oscar voting deadline is, and seems confused by Twitter and his status as a Best Actor nominee. This could work! (Or, at the very least, be an enjoyable rom-com in two years.) While Hathaway promises that she won’t emulate Ricky Gervais — “I don’t mean to sound overly serious, but I am the youngest host in history and I have no business being cynical or calling anyone out. I certainly haven’t earned the right to do that†— the two are fairly tight-lipped about the rest of their Oscar plans, though HR does reveal that thanks to the new digital set, they’ll “travel back in time in an ambitious opening montage.†Just don’t get spliced into Birth of a Nation, you guys. This isn’t the year for that. [HR]
