After weeks of legal back-and-forth between Charlie Sheen, Warner Bros., CBS, and Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre, Sheen has finally dropped the legal bomb his lawyers have been hinting at: He’s suing Lorre and WB for $100 million (plus punitive damages), and his lawyer Marty Singer is claiming that the suit is on behalf of the crew, too. Wrote Singer: “Chuck Lorre, one of the richest men in televison who is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, believes himself to be so wealthy and powerful that he can unilaterally decide to take money away from the dedicated cast and crew of the popular television series, Two and a Half Men, in order to serve his own ego and self-interest, and make the star of the Series the scapegoat for Lorre’s own conduct.†Singer will have the uphill battle of proving Sheen was “dedicated†to the show even when he missed rehearsals and was unable to function on set, but he does have one point: Though WB claims Sheen was fired for violating a morality clause, the studio didn’t seem bothered when he was facing felony charges for assaulting his wife in 2009 (at the time, WB even gave him a pay raise after contract renegotiations).
