James Cameron is a zealot for the 3-D format, but Michael Bay was a staunch 2-D diehard until he shot Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Now, though, he’s converted: “Come into my edit room and I will show you beautiful 3D†he cooed to the “morons on the internet†in November. What made Bay change his tune? Flattery! “Cameron was like, ‘Mike, directors like you have to do 3D or it is going to die,’†Bay says in the new issue of Empire. Fortunately, the director liked what the format could do for his talking robots, praising “the size, the girth, the weight of it … it’s spectacular.†(At least, we think that quote was about his robots.)
