Spider-Man Sets New Broadway Opening Night

Maybe the sixth time will be the charm? With Julie Taymor exiting Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark and new creative collaborators retooling the show, producers Michael Cohl and Jeremiah J. Harris have announced the latest “opening night†for the ever-evolving play: June 14. In advance of that date, the show will shut down for nearly a month – from April 19 to May 11 – so the production can implement the new changes, which include minimizing Taymor’s most prominent addition to the Spidey mythos: the villainess Arachne, whose big number, “Deeply Furious,†has already been cut. Previews for the new version of the show will resume May 12.
