Since the show taped this weekend, we already pretty much know the Comedy Awards winners. Let’s all agree to still watch the show on April 10, right? Solidarity! As for the Natalie Portmans and Colin Firths of the evening, Eddie Murphy was presented the Comedy Icon award while David Letterman received the Johnny Carson Award for Comedic Excellence, as presented by Bill Murray. Next year Letterman can hand the award right back to Murray, and from there it can pass like a hot potato between all of the massively talented people in attendance, forever. The only surprise (in my opinion) is the selection of The Other Guys as Best Comedy Film. I’m not saying I didn’t full-price see it in theaters; I just had honestly forgotten it had come out last year…which is rarely a good sign. My vote probably would have gone with Easy A. The night rounded out with what appears to be a show-stopping performance of “I Just Had Sex†by Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akon. I think you can actually hear Tina Fey laughing during the song, which can only bode well for the entire show.
