In a way, the casting process for the Farrelly brothers’ big-screen revival of The Three Stooges has mirrored Simon Cowell’s attempts to fill the judging panel for The X Factor: Both started out teasing big names (the Farrellys once had Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, and Jim Carrey attached to Stooges) and then, as time dragged on and deadlines were missed, things filled out rather anticlimactically. Deadline reports that Stooges has found its Moe, and it’s neither del Toro nor even the rumored Johnny Knoxville, but actor Chris Diamantopoulos, who appeared on The Starter Wife and 24 (and is married to Ugly Betty actress Becki Newton). He’ll join Sean Hayes and MADtv’s Will Sasso as the other Stooges, with Sofia Vergara also set to co-star. Frankly, we’re a little afraid that at this point, the brothers are going to replace the long-attached Cher with Morgan Fairchild. [Deadline]
