Some actors get tattoos, but that would be a little too quotidian for James Franco. The multi-hyphenate decided to expand the parameters of his new art project, Rebel — an exhibition at the Venice Biennale devoted to the film Rebel Without a Cause — by paying tribute to Brad Renfro, his late co-star from the 2002 movie Deuces Wild. And according to the L.A. Times, Franco’s tribute involved carving Renfro’s name into his right arm with a switchblade, an act he documented in photography and film. It’s the most painful thing Franco has done since … nah, too easy. [Culture Monster/LAT]
