Though Brit Marling and Felicity Jones earned plenty of accolades at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Elizabeth Olsen had the backstory to beat: Debuting in Park City as a fully formed indie actress with two lead roles, she just so happened to be the sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. That “where did she come from?†mystique suits her well in the trailer for her big breakout, Martha Marcy May Marlene, where Olsen’s character escapes from a cult and shacks up with her sister (Sarah Paulson) and brother-in-law (Hugh Dancy), but can’t shake the mysterious memories of what she left behind — and the cult leader (John Hawkes) whose sway she had fallen under. The title might be tough (Sundance audiences struggled to recite it in the correct order), but something tells us that after this film, Olsen’s name will be a cinch to remember.
