Fox’s new animated comedies Allen Gregory and Napoleon Dynamite haven’t even premiered yet, but the network is already giving both shows a vote of confidence. Vulture hears Fox has bought a half-dozen additional scripts for the Jonah Hill–produced AG, as well as seven extra scripts for Dynamite. While not the same thing as committing to filming new episodes, it’s usually a sign a network likes what it’s seeing early on in the production process. Because lead times are longer for animated shows, Fox needed to give the scripts thumbs-up now in order to minimize any lag time between episodes. AG debuts October 30 on Fox, right behind the annual “Treehouse of Horror†episode of The Simpsons; Dynamite is on track for a mid-season debut. Look for Fox to make a call on producing extra episodes of its animated newcomers as soon as this fall.
