David O. Russell told us back in June that he was hoping to cast both Mark Wahlberg and Angelina Jolie as leads in his forthcoming The Silver Lining Playbook, which takes on Matthew Quick’s 2008 story of a mentally deranged ex–high school teacher. But it doesn’t look like his dream-team wish will come true: Wahlberg, who originally joined forces with Russell in The Fighter, is reportedly backing out of the film, leaving The Hangover star Bradley Cooper the center of casting attention. And no Jolie on deck, either — it’s been reported that Winter’s Bone star Jennifer Lawrence will probably earn the film’s lead female role. [Deadline]
