“Comedy is a very approval-oriented field,†Dave Chappelle says. “If I put forth a legitimate effort, then I feel like, if that doesn’t work out, that’s all I can do.†This meandering, under-revealing interview with a morning radio show in the Bay Area doesn’t cover everything you’d want to hear Chappelle talk about, but he does explain a few of his onstage shenanigans, like the time earlier this summer when he completely shut down during a performance. According to Chappelle, people in the front few rows were filming and heckling him, and he thought he was going to get goaded into a “reverse Kramer.â€
The best part of this whole interview is how deftly Chappelle handles and dodges the douchey comments and leading questions from the morning zoo hosts. Can he please do “WTF†soon?
