If you’ve tired of the battle royale being waged by three upcoming Snow White movies, can we interest you in another looming collision between three films about the late singer Jeff Buckley? The first out of the gate is Greetings From Tim Buckley, which cast Penn Badgley as Jeff but doesn’t have the rights to Buckley’s own songs; that film began shooting this month. Today, though, the “official†Buckley biopic — meaning, the one that has the blessing of Buckley’s mother and will feature the music he wrote — announced that it has cast Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark star Reeve Carney as Buckley, which is a pretty perfect match as far as faces and voices go. That film will begin shooting in November under director Jake Scott, which means the third Buckley biopic, an undated Australian effort named A Pure Drop, is in a little bit of a jam. Leftover pretty boys with falsetto voices, send in your résumés! [Deadline]
