ABC is capitalizing on the public’s recent interest in life at the tail end of the twentieth century with a series about a “super cool†nineties girl band. Set in the present day, the as-yet-untitled comedy — written by Seinfeld’s Jennifer Crittenden and Scrubs’ Gabrielle Allan — will chronicle the group’s effort to reunite after a bitter two-decade hiatus (and the attendant loss of coolness). As Crittenden explained, “We’re excited about what happens to a real dream when you have to walk away … Now it’s 20 years later and they’re wearing Sketchers [sic] and mom jeans and they’re trying to pursue this dream.†Perfect — it would be impossible to live the nineties dream without Skechers.
