Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, who is currently in the process of remaking The Flintstones, has signed on to do another update. This time, it’s Carl Sagan’s Cosmos: A Personal Voyage, the hugely successful outer space docu-series that aired on PBS in 1980. MacFarlane’s version, Cosmos: A Space-Time Odyssey, will air in thirteen parts on Fox during prime time — an unusual venue for a show hosted by an astrophysicist (Neil deGrasse Tyson). Will science capture America’s heart? It’s hard to say, though MacFarlane can at least count on his base audience of stoned college students to tune in. [Deadline]
