Ron Howard hasn’t had much luck adapting Stephen King’s The Dark Tower into an ambitious franchise stripped across movie theaters and TV screens, but now it’s time for Steven Spielberg to have his crack at the author. Deadline reports that Spielberg has come aboard to produce a supernatural drama series for Showtime based on King’s 2009 novel Under the Dome, about a small town suddenly contained by a curvy force field. Trapped together by external circumstances beyond their control, the townspeople begin to turn on one another; basically, it’s like what happened at your Hurricane Irene party, but with better special effects.
