Woody Allen has spent a long career typecasting himself in his own films, but he’s paradoxically held a reputation as shy and elusive. That will soon change, thanks to a two-part PBS documentary whose details were unveiled at this weekend’s Television Critics Association convention. The documentary, which came into fruition at the persistent urgings of producer Robert Weide, will feature exclusive interviews with Allen about his work and personal life, along with old performance footage. Perhaps with the documentary, we’ll come to learn that the film legend has actually been a very tall, lethargic gentile this whole time. [LAT]
