Last week, front man Kele Okereke told NME that he was concerned he’d been fired from Bloc Party, recounting a story about how he ran into all the other guys from the band outside a rehearsal space and that no one would really talk to him. Harsh. Then today, from guitarist Russell Lissack: “It’s not really a secret because Kele’s been pretty busy doing solo stuff … We were talking about just doing an instrumental thing, but now we might get a singer as well.†Okereke took to his blog to vent, and then Bloc Party proper updated their site with a vague post that states “Bloc Party is still Bloc Party.†Okay, but is it still Bloc Party with Kele? Pitchfork notes that Bloc Party’s people say Okereke is still in the group, though maybe they should nix the secret rehearsals if that’s the case.
