When Chris Tucker comes out of semi-retirement, he really comes out of semi-retirement: According to Variety, he’s circling both the drama The Silver Linings Playbook and the comedy Neighborhood Watch. In David O. Russell’s Lining, Tucker would play a “spirited friend†whom Bradley Cooper makes while in a mental institution, and in Watch, he’d be a suburban dad alongside Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, and Jonah Hill, who together discover an alien invasion. Tucker’s been MIA for quite a while; since 1998, he’s made only the three Rush Hour movies, which he blames on a paucity of good roles. In recent months, though, Tucker’s been back in the news: Earlier this year, there was talk that he was being wooed for the title role in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained (which eventually went to Jamie Fox), and he’s currently on an eighteen-city stand-up tour. Welcome back, Chris Tucker! [Showblitz/Variety]
