In a small consolation for the fact that both shows were completely shut out from nominations for the primetime Emmys, Community and Portlandia were both awarded special category Emmys. Community’s episode “Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas†earned its animator a Winged Lady for individual achievement in animation, and Portlandia was recognized for costumes for a variety/music program, possibly out of awe at the sheer amount of flannel that can fit on one screen.
