Deadline reports that the Tom Hooper–helmed musical Les Misérables will bow in theaters on December 7, 2012 — and yes, Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe have been confirmed as the leads, Jean Valjean and Inspector Javert. It’s anticipated that Baz Luhrmann’s 3-D adaptation of The Great Gatsby will also get a winter 2012 berth, making that season absolutely ideal for high school students looking for a way to skip the required reading in English class.
