Maura Tierney will appear on an upcoming episode of The Office as James Spader’s wife, though sadly she’s only booked for one episode so far. Spader’s Robert California character has all the Spader-y weirdness you’d expect — slightly off body language, seeming imperviousness to others’ feelings — but if anyone can ground it, it’s Tierney, who spent years honing her straight-woman skills on NewsRadio. (Which totally holds up! It’s all on Netflix and is fun all over again.) Here’s hoping the episode centers on the fact that Tierney and Jenna Fischer bare a striking resemblance to one another, and thus Robert and Jim have more in common than they realized. [Zap2It]
