Two years ago, Stephen King abruptly polled his fans online to find out whether they’d prefer him to write a sequel to The Shining or another side story in his The Dark Tower franchise; after they reacted with a pretty uniform “Wow, The Shining, we guess,†it appears he’s followed through on their advice. King appeared at George Mason University this past weekend to read an excerpt from the brand-new Shining sequel, entitled Dr. Sleep, which follows a now-40-year-old Danny Torrance as he helps elderly patients pass away at a hospice while fending off psychic vampires.
