what is a weekend?

Downton Abbey Will Probably Be Three Seasons

The second season of fantastic British period drama Downton Abbey won’t air in America until the end of the year, but it’s already airing in England. (There’s been some criticism in the U.K. that season two is moving too quickly and too soapily. For what it’s worth, Vulture does not share this opinion.) The show continues to be a ratings success, so the obvious question is already being broached: Will there be a third season? (There’s already a “Christmas Special†scheduled to air shortly after season two finishes up.) Julian Fellowes, Downton’s creator, pretty much says yes. (Yesssss!)

“I would like to think that we will be back next year,†said Fellowes hesitantly, before admitting that he always had three parts planned for Downton… “The original concept in my optimistic head was for the first series to start towards the end of the Edwardian era, the second to be set during World War One and the third in the 1920s. In the 20s there are big changes, new inventions, different expectations I can’t wait to explore.â€

All we can say: The Dowager Countess on the Bright Young People. Yes, please.
